What is the Community Health Access Centre?


A health service program that is funded under the Aboriginal Healing & Wellness Strategy, and was developed in partnership with Mamaweswen The North Shore Tribal Council and The Indian Friendship Centre.  Our Health Centre provides optimum primary health care to ALL ABORIGINAL PEOPLES (First Nation Status Off Reserve, Non-Status, and Métis & Inuit) & family members:

Our Health Clerk answers the telephone, books

appointments for the Health Care Professionals

and performs other administrative duties for the

Health Centre.

RHONDA ANGECONEB, RN(EC), MSN

SHIRLEY MORLEY, RN(EC), BScN

LORI RUSSON, RN(EC), BScN 

 

Nurse Practitioner’s are trained to diagnose, treat and manage acute, episodic and chronic illnesses. They can also prescribe and renew medications that are within their scope of practice.

 

 

DR. DAVID QUON, MD 

Medical Doctors diagnose and treat illnesses, diseases injuries, and other disorders.  They prescribe medicine as needed, make referrals to specialists, and work to promote good health. 

BEVERLEY HUMPHRYS, RD

A Registered Dietitian provides dietary counseling for any nutritional concerns including diabetes, weight management, and healthy eating.

 

A Diabetes Nurse Educator educates diabetics about the disease and how to manage it successfully.  Our DNE work in partnership with the Dietitian.

Þ Prenatal & postnatal care

Þ Completion of medical & treatment forms

Þ Provide referrals to other health care professionals

Þ Health, nutrition education & counselling

Þ Sexual health advice, counselling, testing and treatment, i.e. ( birth control, STD’s, HIV/AIDS)

Þ Foot care Services & Clinics

Þ Hospital Visits

Þ Assistance with medical devices

Þ Follow-up care and management of chronic diseases, i.e. (high blood pressure, arthritis, diabetes, etc.)

(If you are experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, broken bones, injured from an accident)  Please go directly to Sault Area Hospital Emergency Department ASAP!

           Wednesday:   9am to 5:15pm (Last appointment will be at 4:45pm)
