The Healthy Kids Program is new to the Friendship Centre as an extension of the Urban
Aboriginal Healthy Living Program. Healthy Kids focuses on providing education on healthy eating and increase physical fitness levels for children and families.
The program implements culture based activities to enhance the wellbeing and traditional
knowledge of urban Aboriginal children and their families.
Program objectives include;
1) Education on healthy eating for children
2) Increase access and availability to healthy food for children
3) Support healthy eating for families
4) Recreation activities that incorporate traditional activities 5) Provide children and
youth physical activity through access to recreation facilities, education and activity programs.
